WorkSpace Counters
WorkSpace Counters are similar to WorkPoint Sensors but capture a headcount based on the occupants within view. CoWorkr’s WorkSpace Counter has a fixed field of view, this means that the area coverage will vary based on the height at which it’s installed. The common workplace has 10’ ceilings or higher which equate to area coverage of ~200 FT2 or (18.6 M2).
1. Locating a WorkSpace Counter
Choose a location for the installation of your WorkSpace Counter based on the following considerations:
-
Mounting Surface:
-
The ceiling must provide a surface or frame to which the device can mount.
-
WorkSpace Counters have a maximum install height above finished floor of 12’ The maximum height a WorkSpace Counter can be installed is 12 FT (3.6M) above the finish floor (AFF). While the devices may be installed at higher locations, the headcount data quality may be reduced. Note: if the occupants in the space are not seated, the maximum height may be extended to 14 FT AFF.
-
CoWorkr’s mechanical frame attachment may be used for connecting directly to the ACT framework.
-
-
Space to Measure:
-
The device will capture all occupants within its field of view. Consider centering the device over the area you’re measuring unless you’d like to intentionally offset the device location to avoid capturing occupants within a specific area. See the diagram to the right that outlines the suggested dimensions for a conventional 10’ ceiling. Each device should be no closer than 15’ from one another.

Obstructions and Interference
-
The device requires a line of sight without interference to the occupant's location to function properly. Obstacles such as hanging light fixtures or other furniture that may obstruct the view of said occupants or devices emitting heat that may distort the infrared radiation in the environment may prevent the device from operating effectively.

2. WorkSpace Installation
WorkSpace Counters mount directly to suspended ceilings or to a mechanical attachment that is drilled into a ceiling. This uses a "clip" attachment that threads into the sensor.
ACT Tile Frame Mounting
-
GENTLY push the ceiling tiles upwards, revealing the edge of the ACT T-bar frame. Do not notch or damage the tile.
-
With the ACT Clip opened, position the clip onto the T-bar and squeeze the sides of the scissor mechanism from both sides to close it onto the T-Bar
NOTE: Use caution if sliding the clip when closed onto the T-bar as this may damage the paint on the T-bar
-
Once the ACT Clip is secured to the T-bar, lower the ceiling tiles back into place.
-
Align the ACT Clip’s bolt stem with the threaded hole on the backplate of the device and twist the device clockwise onto the ACT Clip’s bolt stem until flush with the ceiling and/or aligned with the ceiling tile. Do not over-tighten.
Removal
-
Twist the device counterclockwise to remove the device from the ACT Clip.
-
GENTLY push the ceiling tiles upwards, revealing the edge of the ACT T-bar frame.
-
Pull the corners of the ACT Clip to open the scissor mechanism and remove the Clip from the T-bar
-
Lower the ceiling tiles back into place.
